Five full rides
Peer support specialist certification, fully covered.
After Life Initiative is covering the full $1,500 cost of Certified Peer Support Specialist training for five people.
This certification was built for a community like ours. It is grounded in lived experience. It recognizes that the people who have been through it are often the ones best equipped to walk somebody else out of it. A lot of our members are already doing this work — already mentoring, already de-escalating, already showing up in the hardest rooms. What they do not have is the paper that lets them get paid for it. This training closes that gap. It turns credible messengers into certified professionals and opens doors in behavioral health, reentry, and trauma informed care across the county.
The full cost of the 80-hour training. No conditions, no strings.
You choose your own training provider — pick the one closest to you, or the one that fits your schedule.

The calendar
Same time every month. Come as you are.

Both classes are held at our office at The Row DTLA.
We’re looking for paid volunteers
Paid opportunities. Stipend based.
Dates and venues are already set. We need people to build the day — planning the activities, shaping how the event flows, and making sure members walk out with something they didn't come in with.
Lead the monthly classes. Reentry covers the practical work of getting back on your feet. Financial literacy covers credit, banking, and building something that lasts.
Lived experience. Comfort in front of a room. Any relevant certification is a plus. None of these are dealbreakers on their own — if you can hold a space and you care about the people in it, apply.
We're screening applicants now and will keep accepting through October.
